Nissan and Premcar redefine off-road capability in SA with launch of Navara PRO-4X Warrior

South Africa has long been known for its love affair with bakkies, and Nissan and Premcar are taking off-road performance to a whole new level with the launch of  Navara PRO-4X Warrior.

The Warrior, developed by Australian engineering partner Premcar, introduces ruthless performance, greater utility, and a more rugged design to the tried-and-tested Navara formula.

Maciej Klenkiewicz, Managing Director for Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa (IMA), states, “The Navara has always been a standout contender in this category, but Premcar has taken it a step further by engineering perhaps the toughest and most durable Navara yet, setting a new standard for off-road capabilities and performance.”

The Warrior has been meticulously put through its paces to ensure it can overcome any hurdles South African roads and trails may present.

Premcar CEO Bernie Quinn explains, “We have done literally tens of thousands of kilometres across a variety of conditions. The Warrior has been tested on a high-speed circuit, a noise-calibration surface, off-road tracks, and durability circuits. Basically, anything you can throw at it, it can manage with ease.”

At the heart of the Warrior is a powerful 2.5-litre DDTi high-output diesel engine, capable of delivering 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque.

Paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission and 4WD, the Warrior is engineered for towing heavy loads and tackling steep inclines, making it a force to be reckoned with on and off the road.

The Warrior boasts an upgraded suspension system, a ground clearance of 232mm, and increased front and rear track widths for added stability on rough terrains.

Equipped with LT 275/65/R17 MAXXIS RAZR all-terrain tyres, the Warrior delivers superior traction and durability for serious off-road enthusiasts while maintaining exceptional comfort for everyday driving.

In terms of safety, the Warrior is loaded with advanced features, including Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite and a comprehensive airbag system.

The vehicle also comes with Nissan’s 6-years/150 000 kilometre warranty on all Warrior-enhanced components and modifications, providing drivers with added peace of mind.

The introduction of the Navara PRO-4X Warrior marks a significant step forward for Nissan in South Africa as it expands its footprint in the off-road segment. With plans to introduce another special edition to complement the 2025 Navara lineup, Nissan is committed to maximizing its assets and expanding its presence in Africa.

The Warrior is now available through Nissan’s nationwide dealer network, offering drivers a truly exceptional off-road experience that combines rugged durability with premium comfort.

“We are committed to maximising our current assets building on our strong Africa based industrial footprint, and our eyes remain fixed firmly on,” added Nissan Africa President Jordi Vila.
