Toyota, Lexus win #CarsAwards Brand of the Year

Toyota and its luxury brand Lexus achieved an impressive score of 88.3%, winning the #CarsAwards Brand of the Year trophy. The award is determined solely by market data and survey findings, including sales and after-sales service ratings.

According to, the Brand of the Year trophy is a significant accolade in the automotive industry, representing validation from car owners. Toyota/Lexus received praise for their superior after-sales support and extensive dealer network, which resonated with South African consumers.

In addition to the Brand of the Year award, Toyota also secured wins in other categories, with the Corolla Cross 1.8 XR winning in the Compact Family Car category and the Toyota GR Yaris in the Performance Car group.

The awards program,#CarsAwards, judges finalists in distinct categories, with 50% of the final scores based on brand-specific data and direct feedback from South African car owners.

Toyota’s success in the awards program solidifies its position as the most successful marque in the Consumer Awards, having previously won the Brand of the Year title in 2015/16, 2018/19, and 2020/21.

Leon Theron, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors, expressed gratitude to the South African market for their support and appreciation of the Toyota and Lexus brands, as well as to the staff and dealer network for their hard work.

The awards, endorsed by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa), were established in 2015 to be South Africa’s definitive automotive awards program, aiming to help consumers make well-informed purchasing decisions.
